Heavy rains in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, on Tuesday inundated several areas of the city.
The rains in Karachi and other cities of Sindh province started on Tuesday morning and continued for several hours after which Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has declared a 'rain emergency' across the province.
The latest series of monsoon rains in Karachi has started from August 24 and according to Sardar Sarfraz, Director, Meteorological Department, Karachi, it may continue till August 27, during which a warning of urban flooding has also been issued.
If we talk about other areas of Sindh, according to the Meteorological Department, 134 mm in Hyderabad, 172 mm in Mirpur Khas, 122 mm in Chhor, 82 mm in Thatta, 110 mm in Badin and 147 mm in Mithi on Tuesday. The meter has rained.
According to the Meteorological Department, the heaviest rainfall in Karachi on Tuesday was recorded in PAF Faisal Base area where 118 mm of rain was recorded. The rains in the city also set a new record for the heaviest rainfall of the month at one point in August.
According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi has received 345 mm of rainfall so far this month, the highest in the city so far in August. Earlier, the highest rainfall in the month of August was in August 1984 when 298.4 mm of rain was recorded at Faisal Base.
Karachi 'under water' due to torrential rains
Due to the rain, most of the residential and business areas of Karachi city were flooded while the low lying areas were submerged in several feet of water.
Most affected areas of the city include Gulshan-e-Hadid, Surjani Town, Malir River, Korangi, Landhi, Defense, Manzoor Colony, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Orangi Town, II Chandragar Road, Saddar, Kharadar, North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi. , Gulberg, Buffer Zone, Azizabad and Liaquatabad.
Apart from them, areas of Defense Society, Gizri, Kemari, Saadi Town, Quaidabad and Gulistan-e-Jauhar have also been affected.
